The Power of Special Olympics

Every Monday I plan to discuss one very special organization you can become an active volunteer in. The first one I'm going to discuss today is very near and dear to my heart.  Special Olympics is an organization founded 46 years ago that allows children and adults with intellectual disabilities to participate in a variety of sports.  A main goal of Special Olympics is to " Foster the acceptance and inclusion of all people."  As a Special Olympics volunteer and unified athlete I am able to speak from a personal standpoint when I say this organization is life changing not only for the athletes but for the volunteers.  It has taught me not to define someone by a disability they have, but to appreciate them for the person they are on the inside.  Through this program I have met so many amazing and unique friends that I would have never met otherwise.  For those of you who are scared of change, it's alright, but I strongly encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and check out the amazing opportunities that lie within this program.  I hope it changes all of your lives as much as it has changed mine.  For more information please check out the link below!
Comment any clubs or organizations you like to volunteer with!  And please help spread the word about my blog, I have some great things planned :)

  1. One of my Sister in law's kid is the part of this special Olympic so I can understand the importance of it among those disable souls. It gives confidence to those special souls that they are not less than anyone.
